Installing a printer

The preferred way to install a printer is to use the samba server of C&CZ.

Technical details  :

• uses central printer server to send jobs to printer:
  • Windows: \\printto.science.ru.nl\printername or \\printer-srv.science.ru.nl\printername (both seem to work under Windows 7 as of 2014-08-19)
  • Linux, Mac: smb://printsmb.science.ru.nl/printername (Reason for alternative server: bug in smb software used by Linux,Mac)
• authentication needed with science account
• works on all local networks (including wireless networks)
